Since 1984Editor/Publisher Rusty Miller, has produced Rusty's Byron Guide annually, as a free booklet in A5 format. This souvenir, for locals and visitors, relates the spirit, feeling and contemporary pulse of Byron through images, stories, handy clues and ads. The Guide endeavors to connect you to our world of innovative, lifestyle adventures. Here in Byron you might be allowed to bring one's dreams into everyday life animation and living magic by exercising and balancing your physical and mental pursuits.

About Rusty -
Rusty,is a former USA Surfing Champion, (1965), anda native southern Californian.In the early 70's Rusty moved to Byron Bay and worked for the fledgling Tracks magazine with owner John Witzig. During the Aquarius Festival in 1973 he published the Region's first alternative, free newspaper, the Byron Express. The Guide's Production Manager is Tricia Shantz,who has worked on the Guide since the beginning. In addition to herexperience in journalism,Tricia has worked in Local Government as a Town and Social Planner. In her own business, TS Consultants, her expertise is in Social Planning, demography and social impact assessment.
Since 2007 graphics and design of the publication are by Daniel Harper of Coolplanet. He has also designed the 2009 website. Daniel grew up in Byron Shire. He has worked overseas as well as on other publications in the region.
Each year the Guide has a particular theme that tries to put its finger on the pulse of what our community is about.Here we believe in the value of an examined life.
